Tool 1
Idle Money Compounder
How much more could your idle money earn in an insured high-interest savings account than in a regular bank account? After tax, month by month.
Method: interest compounds monthly at the published per annum base rate divided by 12, and 20% final withholding tax is taken from each credit. Top-ups land at month end. Real banks may credit daily and use a 360-day year, so results differ slightly. Promo boosts and balance caps are not included. PDIC covers deposits up to PHP 1,000,000 per depositor, per bank.
Tool 2
Credit Card Leverage Reality Check
Before you swipe for stock or equipment: does this purchase bring cash back before the due date? Leverage multiplies losses too.
Buy right after your statement date and this can reach about 45 to 50 days, depending on your card.
BSP ceiling: 3% a month (36% a year), Circular 1165.
Responsible leverage rules
- Only finance purchases that produce cash before the statement due date.
- Pay the full statement balance, every month. Minimum payment is a trap.
- Keep balances under 30% of your limit.
- No cash advances for business stock.
- 0% installment is fine only if the item earns more than the monthly amortization, and you budget for it.
- If the verdict is yellow, plan B must already exist.
